Three orders, not one
Uprights and bases come in pairs and their count is set by the crossbar length. Crossbars are one per bay. Panels are set by fullness. These are three independent numbers and the only thing they share is the length of run you are covering, which is why a single quote for pipe and drape hides the one input that actually moved the price.
A sixty by forty room has a two hundred foot perimeter. Take twelve feet out for doors and the load in path and there are 188 feet to cover. Ten foot crossbars give nineteen bays, so nineteen crossbars. Four walls means four separate runs, each needing its own extra end upright, so 23 uprights and 23 bases.
Fullness is the whole fabric bill
Flat drape is a sheet stretched between two posts. Gathered drape is the same run with more fabric bunched onto it, and the multiplier is what the trade calls fullness. At 2x, 188 feet of run needs 376 feet of flat fabric, and at four and a half feet a panel that is 84 panels. Flat, the same run takes 42.
Double the panels, double the delivery weight of the fabric, double that line of the invoice. And nothing about the hardware changes: the same 23 uprights, the same 19 crossbars. If a drape quote has come back at twice what somebody expected, this is almost always where it went, and it is worth deciding deliberately rather than accepting whatever the rental default is.
Height is the input that does not matter
This surprises people every time. A twelve foot drape and an eight foot drape across the same 188 feet use exactly the same number of panels, bays, crossbars and uprights. Height changes the size of each panel, and so the weight and the price you enter for one — but not a single count on the takeoff. The only place height bites is whether your uprights telescope that far, which the page checks against the figure you gave it.
The weight is the bases
At the values in the form the whole system is 1,630 pounds, and 805 of that is the 23 bases at 35 pounds each. Add the 207 pounds of uprights and the steel is 62 percent of the load. That is why a pipe and drape delivery arrives on more carts than the volume suggests and why the cart count in the answer is driven by hardware rather than fabric.
What this page will not tell you is whether a base of a given weight will hold an upright of a given height against anything leaning on it or blowing at it. That is a question for the supplier of the system, and there is no arithmetic here that answers it.
The short bay at the end of every run
188 feet at ten foot bays is 18.8, which the page rounds up to nineteen. That last bay is eight feet of run pretending to be ten. An adjustable crossbar closes the gap without anybody noticing. A fixed length one does not, and you get either a short bar or an eight foot hole in the drape line.
Four separate runs means four of those, one per wall, and it is the most common way a drape order comes up short on site. Count the runs honestly in the field above — it is the input that adds uprights, and the reason a perimeter takes more posts than the same footage in a straight line.

Run length times fullness, divided by the flat width of a panel. At 188 feet of covered run, 2x fullness and four and a half foot panels, that is 376 feet of flat fabric and 84 panels. Fullness is the only input that changes it — height, crossbar length and the number of walls do not touch the panel count at all.
What is fullness in pipe and drape?
How much more fabric is gathered onto a run than the length of the run itself. Flat is 1x and looks like a stretched sheet. 2x is the usual gathered look and takes twice the fabric. 3x is heavy and takes three times. It is the biggest single lever on the cost of a drape order and it is frequently left as whatever the supplier assumes.
