The volume half is the easy half
Two hundred square feet at 0.15 millilitres a square foot is 30 millilitres for one layer, which is exactly one bottle at the size in the form. That is the entire volume question, and it is why coverage arguments are usually short — the interesting part of a coating job has never been how much is in the bottle.
It does tell you one useful thing though. At those figures a 30 ml bottle is one vehicle, not one and a half, so a second layer means a second bottle and the material cost of the job doubles before any labour moves at all.
The section size is set by the slower rate
Lay a section down, then level it off. The patch you touched first sits there for the whole time it takes to finish laying the section, then gets levelled first — so its dwell is the section area divided by the laying rate. The patch you touched last is laid last and levelled last, so its dwell is the section area divided by the levelling rate. The worst case is the section area over whichever of the two rates is smaller, and it has to come in under the wipe-off window.
On the defaults that is six square feet a minute laying against twelve levelling, so laying is the constraint. A two minute window gives a twelve square foot section, and getting faster at levelling changes nothing whatsoever. That is a genuinely useful thing to know before you put a second person on the job, because the obvious move — one person laying, one following behind levelling — helps only if levelling was the slower of the two.
Heat shrinks the section, not the bottle
The window is a property of the product at the temperature of your bay, not of the label. Halve it and the section halves with it: twelve square feet becomes six, and seventeen sections become thirty-four. The volume of coating does not change by a drop. A hot afternoon makes a coating job longer and more fragmented without making it use any more material, which is the opposite of how most people price a hot day.
Where the model gives up
It assumes you level in the same order you laid, which is what makes the first patch the one at risk. It assumes the section is a continuous rectangle of paint, and cars are not: a mirror base, a handle surround and a fuel door are interruptions that do not stop the clock on the paint you already touched. And it assumes your two rates are steady, when the truth is that the last panel of the day is slower than the first.

How many applicators and towels does a coating job use?
